It’s possible to get overwhelmed at the annual Easter weekend bash, Viva Las Vegas, but impossible to be bored.   At 18, VLV remains to best kustom kulture event that $125 can buy.   Double down on that for those who have yet to go.  Veterans of several VLVs take in in stride, but Hicks with Sticks has yet to meet a first-timer who wasn’t smiling.

NorCal bands the Chop TopsKate Marie and Hank Biggs and the Hardtops are playing — Miss Wolff will be teaching jive lessons.  Headliners feature stars from the late ’50s and early ’60s, including Dion (from the Belmonts), Joe Clay (“16 Chicks”), Sleepy La Beef (“Shotgun Boogie”) and Maryland Pierce (of the VLV "Two Hot Rides"Five Keys).  VLV continues to showcase bands from all over the world with the Go-Getters (Sweden), The Hi Tones (Russia), La Puzzydoll (Chile) and Billie and the Kids (Croatia) in 2015’s line-up.

The car show, tiki pool party, Deke’s guitar geek-a-thon, burlesque… just when the music maxes out the side-shows take over.  The Orleans hotel, where this all happens, fills up so move now to stay in the thick of things.
