Hicks with Sticks will be hosting Peter Thompson’s “Bluegrass Signal,” on KALW.org or FM 91.7 this Saturday, June 17th from 6:30-8:00 pm, featuring San Francisco Bay Area western swing, honky-tonk, alt-country and rockabilly.
The show will feature new releases from John McCord “California Hippies (Are Getting Their Hips Replaced)”, The Up and Down, Court ‘N Disaster and a Hank Williams tune, “You Know that I Know,” a Luxomatics cover of one of Hank’s songs that he never recorded. Also, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, there’ll be a vinyl showcase of SFBA 1960’s hippie country featuring Country Joe MacDonald, Commander Cody, and Joan Baez. And, for a low-cost night out, there’ll be some ticket give-aways to upcoming shows.
