Hear or download songs played on a HWS/KALW on 5/16 that featured new S.F.B.A. releases and bands from Viva las Vegas #29. The first 15 tracks are all San Francisco Bay Area releases. The 16th is by SoCal artist Grey Delisle and it’s included to help spread the word about her.
Tracks 17-25 and 27 are players from VLV #29 to provide a taste of what that event was about. Track 26, “Givin’ the Devil a Try” by The $100 Quartet, was purchased at VLV#29 and is a newly released, limited edition 45 from a one-off collaboration between Chuck Mead (BR-549) and Joey Simeone (The Bellfuries). Tracks 28 & 29 are included because there aren’t enough protest songs in the world today.
“Red Clay Dirt” is included because a Gillian Welch tribute called Trillion Welch — featuring the Bay Area’s Margret Belton (Patsychords), Jill Rogers (Crying Time) and Merideth Edgar — plays at The Freight on June 18th.
