Here’s an update on venue-related SF Bay Area Americana happenings.  Handsome Hawk Valentine, will continue to produce Ivy Room shows in Albany and, starting in January, Saturday shows at Hotel Utah.  The venue itself is said to be readying a makeover of its music room.

Amado’s on Valencia Street has its closing party on Tuesday, December 12th.  The club, which put on shows upstairs and downstairs, recovered from the pandemic only to have its downstairs taken out of commission (flooded) by a faulty fire suppression system.  Then The City That Knows How drove a monstrous bike path through the center of Valencia Street crippling every business from 16th to 21st.

The Stork Club in Oakland has gone through some upgrades, basically taking it up a notch from its punk dive past.  Noelle Fiore of Noelle and the Deserters has been doing third Sunday shows called “Mama Tried” and Kevin Carducci (Easy Leaves) and his full band will be there on Sunday, 12/17.   Mama Tried is slated to change to Saturdays in 2024.

Pop’s Bar on 24th and York has a DJed country night every second Monday from 8-10, hosted by Sam & Amelia.  HWS has donated a flash drive full of Bay Area musicians’ music to the cause and may even take part as a guest DJ to play songs by bands playing live over the next 10-15 days.

Irelands 32, in SF is hoping to start live music on Saturdays in 2024.  The bar has a stage an PA but hasn’t consistently presented music so the outcome will depend on what they’re willing to do to draw and audience.
