On June 15th Hicks with Sticks hosted a KALW (NPR-SF) show to broadcast NorCal Americana bands. This occupied the first half-hour and was followed by bands that have played Viva Las Vegas, a four-day event, held annually for 27 years in where else? Las Vegas. This podcast has the full show which featured new releases from NorCal notables including Noelle & the Deserters, the Dangleros and Lisa Marie Johnston.
Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee’s sister), Deke Dickerson, and Mimi Rogers a 90-year-old Jewish cowgirl from Brooklyn were among the mix of VLV favorites. The show closed with Texas troubadour Wayne Hancock and former Lost Planet Airman Bill Kirchen — both touring NorCal soon after the show aired. Listen now or download for later.
