The Emily Anne (Reed) Band is the latest “Emily band” to emerge on the Hicks with Sticks radar.  She’d been doing 30’s and 40’s swing and jazz numbers, but her latest combo leans toward vintage pop and country, samples of which are on their ReverbNation page.  Check out “All I Can Do Is Cry” for their more twanging side.

The SF Bay Area finds itself with not one, but four, Emilys fronting bands working in and around Americana.  Emily Hayes sings with the Country Cassanovas, Emily Adams fronts the old school R&B Cosmo Alley Cats , and Emily Bonn fronts Emily Bonn and the Vivants plus she sings with the Lonestar Retrobates.  Can a “Night of the Living Emilys” show be in our future?  Know your Emilys, pictured here in order of their mention.

Hammerin’ Hank Maninger is now fronting the hard working swing band Stompy Jones and since Stompy keeps busy with over 20 dates/month, an untold number of projects that had his attention have gone searhing for replacements.  This includes the Christopher Ford Band and his monthly live radio talent show (HWS, 6/26/2012), but not The Better Haves since his wife connects him to that one.  He was also playing in Joe Goldmark’s Seducers and still helps them out though Mitch Polzak (Royal Deuces), the one guitarist even busier than Hammerin’ Hank, sat in during the Seducer’s last Riptide show.  Joe Goldmark has released a double CD with his steel guitar-led instrumentals on one disc and songs with Kita Bell’s vocals on the other.

Expect a few more CDs to pop soon with Texas Steve and the Tornadoes, The B-Stars, and West Coast Ramblers all close to release, and some usual suspects who have been held up for months due to one dang thing or another.
